Design Manager (Civils)

About the role

Mace is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design management process for large‑scale roads and bridges packages on a major mixed‑use development in Saudi Arabia. You will coordinate technical design consultancies, ensure compliance with briefs and governance, and support the delivery of high‑quality infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design management for extensive civil infrastructure packages, including roads and bridges.
• Manage and guide technical design consultancies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure all design briefs, governance frameworks and stakeholder requirements are met.
• Provide operational support and coordinate project deliverables across multidisciplinary teams.
• Analyse, interpret and present KPI data and management review information.
• Support business development and work‑winning initiatives.
• Build effective relationships leveraging Centre of Excellence knowledge.
• Champion net‑zero carbon transition through proactive emissions management.

Required profile

• Degree qualification in a relevant civil engineering or design discipline.
• Chartered or professional membership (e.g., RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT) is an advantage.
• Proven track record delivering design processes for large civil/infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of building safety legislation, building standards, construction contracts and health & safety legislation.
