Director of Operations – Rail/Metro/Public Transport

About the role

The company is a fast‑growing international engineering consultancy delivering major infrastructure, transportation and multidisciplinary projects across Saudi Arabia. As the business expands, it seeks a hands‑on Director of Operations to provide strategic leadership for rail, metro and public‑transport projects, driving operational excellence, commercial performance and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational performance across a portfolio of major engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Improve project governance, delivery standards and operational efficiency.
• Support Project Directors throughout mobilisation, execution and close‑out phases.
• Drive commercial performance, profitability and forecasting for the portfolio.
• Optimise resource planning and utilisation across multiple projects.
• Build strong relationships with key clients and senior stakeholders.
• Lead resolution of commercial and project delivery challenges.
• Support strategic business planning and operational improvement initiatives.
• Lead major bids and proposals from qualification through to submission and client presentations.
• Mentor, develop and lead multidisciplinary teams across the region.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 15+ years’ experience within engineering consultancy or professional services.
• Extensive experience leading multidisciplinary engineering project portfolios.
• Strong commercial and financial management capability.
• Proven ability to improve operational performance and project governance.
• Experience managing major bids, proposals and client pursuits.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working across Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC (highly desirable).
• Chartered Engineer, PMP or equivalent professional accreditation (advantageous).
