EHS Officer – Saudi Arabia

About the role

Veolia Water Technologies is seeking an experienced EHS Officer to oversee health, safety and environmental performance on its Saudi Arabian sites. You will work closely with construction, operations and maintenance teams to ensure a safe workplace and compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily site activities across construction, operation and maintenance to identify unsafe conditions and hazards.
• Conduct routine site checks, housekeeping inspections and verify welfare facilities.
• Provide on‑the‑spot coaching, report incidents, near‑misses and support investigations.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions and support behavioral safety programs.
• Prepare, review and update risk assessments, environmental registers and issue Permits to Work for high‑risk tasks.
• Perform LMRA and JSA with work teams before task commencement.
• Inspect machinery, equipment and emergency assets to ensure valid certifications and proper operation.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices in construction and industrial environments.
• Ability to conduct incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and follow‑up corrective actions.
• Excellent communication skills for coaching, training and reporting.
• Detail‑oriented with a proactive safety mindset.

Required skills

• Experience with site safety inspections, risk assessments and Permit‑to‑Work systems.
• Familiarity with safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, first‑aid kits, eyewash stations and spill kits.
• Knowledge of operating machinery safety checks (cranes, forklifts, pumps, welding tools, etc.).
