Electrical Technician - Paper Mill

About the role

The Electrical Technician maintains, repairs and installs electrical systems, equipment and components within a paper manufacturing facility, ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the electrical infrastructure supporting paper production. The position is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, motors, transformers, switchgear and other electrical equipment used in paper manufacturing
• Install, upgrade and modify electrical wiring, lighting and control systems supporting paper production equipment
• Maintain electrical drawings, schematics and documentation for the mill's electrical infrastructure
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards and regulations specific to the paper industry
• Assist with developing and implementing maintenance schedules and procedures for electrical systems
• Collaborate with other maintenance trades and production departments to support paper manufacturing operations
• Maintain a safe and organised work environment in the paper mill

Required profile

• Technical diploma or associate's degree in electrical engineering technology or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience as an electrical technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the paper industry

Required skills

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams and technical documentation
• Knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards and regulations applicable to paper manufacturing
• Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming and troubleshooting is an advantage
