Environment and Sustainability Specialist

About the role

Eram Talent is recruiting an Environment and Sustainability Specialist for a client in Saudi Arabia. The specialist works with technical specialists on a wide range of projects, coordinating impact assessments, reviewing and evaluating impacts, developing mitigation measures and supporting Environmental and Social Management Plans for a government client. The role combines fieldwork and report writing and is based in client offices in Riyadh.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing sustainability policies and procedures across departments.
• Conduct environmental assessments and sustainability audits to identify improvements and ensure compliance with local regulations.
• Coordinate and deliver environmental audits and environmental and social impact assessments.
• Integrate sustainability considerations into project planning and execution with project teams.
• Monitor, analyse and report on environmental performance metrics.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on sustainability practices and environmental regulations.
• Stay informed on emerging sustainability trends and recommend innovative solutions.
• Engage with stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives and community outreach.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in environmental management, sustainability or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability frameworks.
• Experience conducting environmental assessments and audits, and preparing fee proposals for environmental work.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Required skills

• Practical experience with international lender standards such as the Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards.
• Knowledge of environmental impact assessment processes and regional environmental regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and sustainability reporting tools.
• Analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Professional membership or certification (e.g. IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM, IES, PMP) is advantageous.
