Field Operator – Diesel Hydrotreating (Refinery)

About the role

The Field Operator will work in the Diesel Hydrotreating section of a refinery, supporting safe start‑up, shutdown and continuous operation of plant equipment. The role requires close coordination with console operators, shift supervisors and maintenance teams to maintain efficient and compliant production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform or assist in start‑up and shutdown of assigned plants following approved procedures.
• Respond to emergency or upset conditions by flaring, blowdown, isolation, diversion, or switching while coordinating with the console operator.
• Conduct regular inspections and walk‑throughs of plant facilities to ensure efficient operation.
• Identify malfunctions or abnormal conditions and report them to the shift supervisor or console operator.
• Record field instrument readings and local measurements in logs and update checklists as required.
• Collect samples and carry out chemical and physical process tests as instructed.
• Support the shift supervisor in communications with contractors, vendors, maintenance personnel and inspection teams.
• Issue work permits according to the authorization level assigned by the Section Head and perform plant housekeeping duties.

Required profile

• High school diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a technical diploma with at least 4 years of experience.
• Basic understanding of refinery or petrochemical equipment and plant layout.
• Knowledge of field operations, mechanisms and instrument fundamentals.
• Familiarity with emergency shutdown systems and safe work practices.

Required skills

• Field instrumentation reading and documentation.
• Process sampling and basic chemical/physical testing.
• Operation of emergency shutdown and safety systems.
