Field Service Engineer – Mechanical Site Services

About the role

The Mechanical Site Service Engineer will provide aftermarket site services for FLSmidth core equipment and similar non‑FLSmidth equipment used in hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes within the mining industry. The role includes installation, erection, commissioning and performance testing of rotary kilns, coolers, dryers and related equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to safety protocols, complete safety inductions and medical tests as required.
• Conduct site safety inspections and obtain gate passes and permits to work.
• Interpret scope of work, schedule activities, and plan manpower, tools and tackles for shutdowns or new installations.
• Ensure work follows instruction manuals, drawings and SOPs.
• Supervise mechanical contractors and prepare reports (no‑load/load trial protocols, commissioning and performance test reports).
• Coordinate with customers, consultants and internal FLSmidth functions for safe site execution.
• Support experienced service managers on site and work extended hours when needed.
• Document meeting minutes, resolve product issues with GPLM/RPLM teams, and identify business opportunities for aftermarket services.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience in mining equipment service, erection and commissioning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work as a team player.
• Disciplined, proactive and able to make swift decisions.
• Proficient in reading and understanding English IOM manuals.
