Field Services Engineer – Commercial Vehicles & Trucks

About the role

The Field Services Engineer provides on‑site technical support for commercial vehicles and heavy‑duty trucks. Working directly with customers, workshops and manufacturers, you will diagnose complex mechanical and electronic issues, ensure effective repairs, and act as the technical bridge between all parties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site technical assistance for commercial vehicles, trucks and assigned fleets.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic and drivability problems.
• Conduct field inspections, technical investigations and road tests for vehicle complaints.
• Support workshop technicians in root‑cause analysis and repair recommendations.
• Prepare detailed technical reports on major failures, repeated complaints and warranty cases.
• Coordinate with the warranty team and manufacturers on technical findings and escalations.
• Implement Technical Service Bulletins, service campaigns, recalls and new‑model introductions.
• Deliver technical training and on‑the‑job guidance to workshop staff.
• Monitor recurring issues, identify trends and provide feedback to manufacturers.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with commercial vehicles and heavy‑duty trucks.
• Proven ability to work independently on customer sites and in workshop environments.
• Excellent analytical skills for interpreting diagnostic trouble codes, test results and repair histories.

• Diesel engines and engine management systems.
• Diesel fuel injection and fuel system knowledge.
• Engine cooling, lubrication and air‑intake systems.
• Manual and automated/automatic transmissions.
• Differential, driveline and 4WD systems.
• Air brake systems and general brake technology.
• Steering and suspension systems.
• Use of diagnostic tools, DTC analysis and road‑testing equipment.
• Technical reporting and documentation.
