Financial Control Specialist

About the role

The Financial Control Specialist supports the finance function by ensuring accurate financial records, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining compliance with accounting policies and tax regulations. Working closely with internal stakeholders, the role contributes to budget adherence and prepares documentation for audits and tax authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Review purchase orders and supporting documents to confirm alignment with approved budgets and financial control requirements.
• Perform bookkeeping tasks, verify financial entries, and maintain accurate supporting documentation in the relevant systems.
• Monitor actual expenditures against budgets, identify variances, and assist in the preparation of financial reports.
• Apply appropriate accounting treatments for expenditures in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of internal financial controls to detect discrepancies and control gaps.
• Gather financial data and documentation required for internal and external audit activities.
• Assist with tax compliance, including preparation of tax provisions, returns, withholding tax documentation, and related submissions.
• Process tax‑related administrative tasks such as deductions, retentions, confirmation letters, and tax certificates for contractors and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with Group Finance – Zakat & Tax and other stakeholders to meet regulatory filing requirements.
• Maintain accurate financial control and tax records and respond to auditor and tax authority inquiries as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in financial control, accounting, or tax administration.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with documentation and financial systems.

Required skills

• Knowledge of accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.
