General Pediatrician

About the role

The General Pediatrician is a staff member of the Mother and Child Health Institute at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) in Al-Hasa. The position provides clinical care and consultative services to inpatients and outpatients with pediatric disorders or who need preventative care, reporting to the Unit Head of General Pediatrics or Pediatric Hospitalists and the Chair of the Women and Child Health Institute.

Key responsibilities

• Provide person-centered care and consultations to inpatients and outpatients in the area of expertise.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the highest standards of care, within the scope of privileges approved by the JHAH Credentialing and Privileging Committee.
• Complete medical documentation and reports promptly and professionally.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, allied health providers and administrators, and take part in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Share on-call duties and respond to emergency requests from the emergency rooms of all JHAH facilities.
• Take part in monthly unit, division, department and hospital meetings covering clinical, education and research topics.
• Support the division's educational activities, attend Grand Rounds and Journal Clubs, and help develop trainees and colleagues.
• Join quality improvement and committee work, and respond quickly to queries on documentation, coding, patient concerns and risk management.
• Help develop administrative policies, clinical guidelines and standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• Graduation from an approved medical school and one year of internship.
• Valid license to practice and certification by the American Board or equivalent (e.g. MRCP).
• Three to five years of residency training after board certification.
• Desirable: specialty training in a major pediatric sub-specialty such as cardiology or gastroenterology.
• Good command of oral and written English and ability to adapt to group practice.
