Health and Safety Officer

About the role

The Health and Safety Officer will ensure that all site activities comply with local health, safety and environmental regulations. You will lead inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to maintain a safe working environment across the operation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular site safety inspections and verify compliance with HSE standards.
• Identify hazards, perform risk assessments and manage Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
• Oversee safety during lifting and hot‑work operations.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety observations and training sessions.
• Investigate incidents, prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor contractor and workforce adherence to safety procedures.
• Support the implementation of safety policies, emergency response plans and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma; a degree is preferred.
• NEBOSH IGC or equivalent local safety certification (e.g., KAWADER Safety Practitioner).
• 2–3 years of relevant health and safety experience, preferably in facilities management.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment and incident management.
• Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining safety compliance.
