Health and Safety Officer (Underground and Surface)

About the role

We are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to support both underground and surface mining operations for a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia. Reporting to the Health and Safety Supervisor, you will help implement and monitor the company’s HSE Management System and ensure compliance with Saudi legislation and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, monitor and continuously improve the Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.
• Conduct routine inspections of drilling rigs, workshops, warehouses, camps, vehicles and other operational facilities.
• Identify workplace hazards, perform risk assessments and verify critical risk controls.
• Participate in Job Hazard Analyses, Take‑5 and Pre‑Task risk assessments.
• Monitor compliance with Permit to Work systems and Safe Work Procedures.
• Ensure correct use of Personal Protective Equipment and compliance with PPE standards.
• Oversee high‑risk activities such as lifting, working at height, hot work, electrical work, excavation and rig mobilisation.
• Inspect machine guarding, emergency stops, fire protection, first‑aid equipment and safety signage.
• Investigate incidents using root‑cause analysis techniques and ensure corrective actions are closed.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety alerts and other training programmes.
• Coach supervisors and drilling crews on safe work practices and behavioural safety.
• Maintain HSE records, prepare regular reports and support internal and external audits.
• Manage hazardous substances, waste segregation, spill prevention and environmental protection measures.
• Conduct emergency preparedness inspections and coordinate response drills.

Required profile

• Experience in mining or industrial HSE operations.
• Familiarity with Saudi Arabian health, safety and environmental legislation and international HSE standards.
• Ability to conduct inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations and deliver training.
• Strong attention to detail and capability to maintain accurate HSE documentation.
