Housekeeping Manager

About the role

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing daily shift operations of Housekeeping, the Recreation/Health Club and, when applicable, Laundry. This role ensures guest rooms, public areas and employee zones are clean, well‑maintained, and inspected to meet the property’s standards while supporting guest and employee satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily housekeeping shift activities, verify guest‑room status, and communicate updates to the Front Desk.
• Conduct daily inspections of guestrooms and public spaces, assigning immediate cleaning tasks and preparing work lists for check‑outs.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, ensure staff have proper equipment, uniforms and cleaning materials.
• Supervise an effective inspection program and enforce housekeeping policies, standards and procedures.
• Manage budgeting, monitor financial performance of the department and strive to meet or exceed budgeted goals.
• Train new room attendants, schedule staff according to business demand, and track attendance.
• Administer property policies fairly, handle disciplinary actions per SOPs, and support peer‑review processes.
• Provide ongoing feedback, recognize employee performance, and participate in departmental meetings.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of housekeeping or related experience, OR a 2‑year degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field (no experience required).
• Strong understanding of housekeeping operations, budgeting and guest‑service standards.
• Ability to lead, train and motivate a diverse team.
