HSE Team Leader (Shutdown & Turnaround)

About the role

Abis is looking for an HSE Team Leader for shutdown and turnaround projects in Al Jubail. The role leads the HSE team in administering and implementing HSE initiatives, programmes and procedures, and covers the management of HSE support functions such as recruitment and training.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the HSE team and ensure HSE policies, procedures, regulations and objectives are implemented effectively
• Take part in developing and running operational risk assessments for critical activities
• Carry out Behavioural Safety Audits (BSA) and high-profile tours according to HSEMS guidelines
• Inspect workplaces and audit subcontractors for compliance with HSE systems, and follow up on remedial actions
• Maintain accident statistics, analyse trends and propose and take remedial action
• Assist in investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and recommend preventive measures
• Develop and run HSE awareness campaigns and HSE training programmes
• Set up project HSE programmes, including training and audit plans, and improve the HSE management plan and performance standards
• Manage subordinates, identify their training needs and monitor subcontractor HSE performance

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Safety Engineering or a related field
• 10-12 years of experience in HSE, including shutdown and turnaround work in oil and gas, process plants or cross-country pipeline projects
• Saudi Arabia / Gulf experience preferred
• OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor
• NEBOSH qualification or OSHA training
