Laboratory Specialist

About the role

The Laboratory Specialist performs routine and moderate‑complexity analyses within the Clinical Laboratory and Blood Bank divisions, ensuring accurate test results and high‑quality patient care. Working under the supervision of senior medical technicians, the role involves rotating through various lab sections to maintain readiness for emergency testing.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, handle, and assess clinical specimens in aseptic conditions.
• Prepare specimens and reagents, and create daily work‑lists for diagnostic applications.
• Conduct routine testing according to SOPs, perform equipment calibration, and maintain QC records.
• Document calibration, maintenance, and QC activities; validate results before release via the Laboratory Information System.
• Participate in troubleshooting, inventory management, and the training of new technicians.
• Provide patient and family education in line with hospital policies while protecting health information.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
• Current registration as a Medical Technologist/Technician in the country of origin and a Saudi Ministry of Health license.
• Willingness to work on‑call shifts, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Required skills

• Laboratory Information System (LIS) operation.
• Equipment calibration and routine maintenance.
• Quality control (QC) procedures and documentation.
