Legal Consultant

About the role

Provide legal advice and support to the University’s leadership and administrative units, draft and review contracts and other legal instruments, ensure compliance with Saudi laws and regulations, manage legal risk and protect the University’s interests.

Key responsibilities

• Advise University leadership, colleges and administrative units on legal, regulatory and contractual matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, memoranda of understanding, agreements and other legal documents.
• Monitor Saudi laws, regulations and ministerial decisions relevant to higher education and advise on their impact.
• Review University policies, procedures and bylaws for legal compliance.
• Represent the University or coordinate with external counsel in litigation, settlement and regulatory proceedings.
• Maintain legal case files, contracts registry and documentation archive.
• Assess legal risks of decisions, initiatives and agreements and recommend mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with external law firms, government entities and regulators on specialised legal matters.
• Support committees and governance bodies by providing legal input on resolutions and decisions.
• Provide guidance on intellectual property, data protection, procurement, employment and student affairs.
• Deliver training sessions on relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare periodic reports on legal matters, risks and case status for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (Master’s preferred); valid Saudi law license is a plus.
• Minimum five years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a supervisory role within higher education.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi commercial, labour, procurement and higher‑education regulations.
• High level of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
