LOTO Engineer

About the role

The LOTO Engineer develops, implements and manages the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energy isolation program for a large‑scale power generation project. The role ensures safe execution of construction, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, testing and hand‑over activities by preventing unintended energisation or release of stored energy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project LOTO procedures in line with international standards, company HSE policies and OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEC requirements.
• Establish isolation management processes for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical and thermal energy sources and define isolation boundaries for all plant systems.
• Coordinate isolation planning with EPC contractors, OEMs, construction, commissioning, HSE and future operations teams; review schedules and ensure isolations are planned before testing and energisation.
• Support first‑energisation activities for gas‑turbine, steam‑turbine, HRSG, electrical substations, MV/LV distribution, DCS and auxiliary systems, managing temporary and permanent isolations.
• Maintain LOTO registers, isolation logs, drawings and single‑line diagrams; provide daily status reports and periodic compliance reports.
• Deliver LOTO awareness training, toolbox talks and safety briefings; conduct routine audits, close non‑conformances and participate in incident investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in power generation, with at least 5 years in commissioning, start‑up or energy‑isolation management.
• Experience with combined‑cycle (CCGT) power plants of approximately 1 890 MW is preferred.
