Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

About the role

SGS, a global inspection, verification, testing and certification company, is hiring a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer in Riyadh. The engineer carries out commissioning of mechanical systems across the full lifecycle, from pre-commissioning through to final handover.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out commissioning of mechanical systems such as chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, HVAC systems and their control systems.
• Review and implement approved commissioning plans, test procedures and scripts, ensuring safe and accurate testing.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, OEM representatives, consultants and client teams.
• Witness FATs, SATs and system testing, and support Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Identify issues, record observations, prepare punch lists and follow up to closure.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, IEEE, Uptime Institute where applicable), project specs and KSA regulations, and follow HSE requirements.
• Maintain commissioning documentation, test records, reports and sign-off sheets, and support O&M manuals, as-built docs, training and handover to operations.
• Assist the Commissioning Manager in client inspections, audits and final acceptance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• 12 years of experience in commissioning, testing or construction of MEP systems.
• At least 4-5 years of hands-on hyperscale data center testing and commissioning experience preferred.
