Façade Engineer - Design

About the role

AECOM is looking for a detail-oriented and innovative Façade Engineer - Design to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role covers designing, developing and optimizing building façade systems that meet aesthetic and performance requirements, working with architects, structural engineers and project teams to deliver solutions that comply with local and international building standards and address the region's environmental challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop façade systems including curtain walls, cladding and glazing using CAD and BIM software
• Analyse façade performance, including thermal, acoustic and structural aspects
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications and documentation for construction and manufacturing
• Evaluate and select materials and systems based on project needs, climate and sustainability goals
• Ensure designs comply with Saudi Arabian building codes, regulations and international standards
• Integrate façade systems with building design and structural elements
• Analyse building envelope performance and recommend energy efficiency and moisture management solutions
• Prepare cost estimates and material specifications, and take part in design reviews, presentations and client meetings
• Troubleshoot design challenges and maintain organized project documentation with quality control

Required profile

• Proven 10 years of experience in façade design and engineering, preferably on commercial or high-rise projects
• Strong knowledge of building envelope systems, curtain walls and cladding technologies
• Understanding of building codes and standards applicable to façades
• Expertise in thermal and moisture management, acoustic performance and structural integration
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and organization
• English communication and presentation skills; preferred: project coordination, sustainability knowledge and familiarity with Middle East climate considerations

Required skills

• Advanced CAD (AutoCAD, Revit) and BIM modelling
• Technical drawings, specifications and construction documentation
• Preferred: BIM and parametric design tools, project management and client communication
