Mechanical Design Engineer – Power Transformers (up to 50 MVA)

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with deep expertise in power transformer mechanical design (up to 50 MVA, 132 kV). The role involves creating detailed mechanical drawings, bills of materials and ensuring compliance with international standards for projects in Saudi Arabia.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical design of power transformers up to 50 MVA, 132 kV.
• Preparation of General Arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication & manufacturing drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Design of key components such as transformer tank, cover, radiators, conservator, oil preservation systems, core clamping structures, and bushing arrangements.
• Coordinate with electrical design, production, QA/QC, procurement and vendors; participate in design reviews.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT); resolve design‑related issues.
• Optimize designs for structural strength, durability, thermal performance and cost‑effectiveness.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 + years of experience in transformer mechanical design.
• Experience in power transformer manufacturing up to 132 kV class.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (mandatory).
• PTC Creo, NX or Inventor (preferred).
• MS Office.
• Knowledge of IEC and ANSI standards.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
• Understanding of transformer tank and structural design, cooling systems, material selection, mechanical stress calculations, thermal expansion and vibration analysis.
