Mechanical Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician ensures the reliability of food processing and packaging equipment through preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance. Working in a fast‑moving consumer goods environment, the role focuses on minimizing downtime while complying with HACCP, GMP and occupational safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on mixers, slicers, extruders, ovens, fryers and packaging machinery.
• Perform mechanical repairs and troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical faults on gearboxes, pumps, valves, bearings, belts, chains and seals.
• Follow food‑safety protocols (GMP, HACCP, LOTO) and use food‑grade lubricants during all interventions.
• Adjust equipment, conduct changeovers and align machinery between production runs to meet recipe specifications.
• Monitor and carry out minor repairs on utility systems such as steam boilers, air compressors, chillers and water‑treatment units.
• Record all work orders, spare‑part usage and machine history in the CMMS.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma or Vocational Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or a related field.
• 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a food, beverage or FMCG manufacturing plant.
• Ability to work shift patterns, including nights and weekends, and handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 kg.
• Willingness to work in varied environments (cold storage, warm ovens).
