Mold & Tooling Workshop Manager – Plastic Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Mold & Tooling Workshop Manager to lead our mold workshop and manage the complete lifecycle of plastic molds – from design and engineering through manufacturing, assembly, trials, maintenance, modification, and optimization.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the mold & tooling workshop, supervising designers, toolmakers, CNC machinists, EDM operators, fitters and technicians.
• Oversee the full mold development process: concept, 3D design, manufacturing, assembly, trial, approval and production.
• Plan and control mold manufacturing, preventive maintenance, repairs, modifications and continuous improvements.
• Troubleshoot complex mold and tooling issues, identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate closely with Production, Engineering, R&D, Quality and Procurement teams.
• Monitor workshop KPIs such as mold availability, downtime, maintenance, project completion, quality and productivity.

Required profile

• 5–7+ years of experience in plastic mold/tooling manufacturing, preferably in a managerial or senior engineering role.
• Proven ability to lead a technical team and manage multiple mold projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and coordination skills, with experience working in multicultural environments.

Required skills

• Injection molding, PET preform molds, hot and cold runner systems.
• Blow molding, extrusion blow molding and IBM (Injection Blow Molding) expertise.
• SolidWorks (strong 3D CAD) and ability to read/modify 2D engineering drawings.
• CNC milling, CNC turning, EDM/Wire EDM, grinding, drilling and polishing.
• Mold fitting, assembly, trial, dimensional inspection, repair and modification.
