Plant General Manager – Power & Water Operations

About the role

ACWA is looking for an experienced Plant General Manager to lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation of large‑scale power generation and water desalination assets in the Red Sea region of Saudi Arabia. The role oversees all aspects of plant performance, maintenance, commercial results, HSSE and stakeholder relations, ensuring delivery against operational, financial and contractual targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead plant operations and maintenance to achieve high availability, production efficiency and long‑term asset reliability.
• Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis investigations and performance‑improvement initiatives.
• Manage major and minor plant modifications while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with corporate objectives and prepare performance reports for senior leadership.
• Oversee plant budgets, financial performance and cost‑control activities to meet revenue and profitability targets.
• Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary operational teams, driving workforce and succession planning.
• Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Security & Environmental standards and promote a strong safety culture.
• Build and maintain relationships with shareholders, OEMs, contractors, regulators and local authorities as the key operational representative.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience managing large‑scale power generation and/or water desalination plants.
• Proven leadership experience across operations and maintenance functions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, commercial contracts and stakeholder relationships.
