Port Safety Officer – Shore Based Position

About the role

The Port Safety Officer will be based onshore in Saudi Arabia and will lead the implementation and oversight of health, safety, and security protocols at the port. This full‑time position ensures compliance with occupational health standards, conducts regular inspections, and drives continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor health and safety procedures for port operations.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and audits to verify compliance.
• Investigate incidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training sessions and briefings to staff and contractors.
• Maintain security measures and coordinate with security teams.
• Provide recommendations for operational improvements to enhance safety and security.

Required profile

• Offshore vessel experience with an international marine qualification.
• HSE certificate equivalent to NEBOSH General Certificate.
• Valid Certificate of Competency, GMDSS (if holding Deck Officer License), and all STCW certificates including Medical Care.
• Valid passport (minimum 6 months) and Seaman Book with recent sea‑time entries.
• Medical fitness (minimum 3 months), H2S Familiarisation, BOSIET, and previous Saudi Aramco approvals as Officer/Port Safety Officer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science or related field preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in health & safety and occupational health practices.
• Experience conducting accident investigations and implementing corrective measures.
• Knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
• Expertise in developing and delivering safety training programs.
• Technical competence with GMDSS, STCW, Bridge/Engine Room Resource Management, and H2S safety systems.
