Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Offshore)

About the role

kbr is looking for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Offshore) with extensive experience designing substations, transmission and distribution systems in the oil and gas, hydrocarbon and infrastructure sectors. The role requires leading a large team of electrical engineers and designers, and covers conceptual, FEED and detailed engineering of medium to large scale projects. A minimum of 15 years' experience is required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of 10 to 20 electrical engineers and designers
• Develop discipline work plans and perform or check electrical systems studies (e.g. ETAP)
• Develop work-hour estimates and prepare electrical equipment sizes and specifications
• Perform or check power systems analyses
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team, including clients
• Ensure design integrity of the electrical scope, staff performance, on-schedule delivery within budget
• Lead technical presentations to clients and their representatives as required

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 15 years' experience in the oil and gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore and infrastructure industries
• Experience leading a large team of electrical engineers and designers
• Experience in conceptual, FEED and detailed engineering of medium to large scale projects

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of design practices, construction practices and procedures
• Wide knowledge of codes and standards IEEE, NFPA, API, IEC, ANSI/NEMA
• Knowledge of electrical power systems, protection philosophy and device coordination
• Knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards and procedures is an added advantage
