Production Engineer – Event Fabrication

About the role

The Production Engineer in the event fabrication workshop is responsible for executing day‑to‑day fabrication of event structures, exhibition stands, sets, and custom props. Reporting to the Production Manager, the role translates technical drawings into physical outputs across carpentry, metalwork, printing, foam work and painting while meeting quality standards and deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily fabrication tasks in carpentry, metalwork, printing, foam work and painting according to production schedules.
• Interpret technical and shop drawings to produce accurate components.
• Plan workload sequencing with the Production Manager and flag material or capacity constraints.
• Perform self‑inspection quality checks at each stage and suggest corrective actions to minimise rework.
• Maintain tools, equipment and inventory, ensuring efficient material usage and reporting any faults.
• Adhere to HSE protocols, use PPE and report unsafe conditions immediately.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on fabrication experience in the event industry, fit‑out or scenery construction.
• Proficiency in at least two workshop disciplines (e.g., carpentry, metalwork, foam work, printing, painting) with willingness to cross‑train.
• Ability to read technical drawings, shop drawings and cut lists.
• Experience operating power tools, hand tools and workshop machinery.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills; familiarity with CAD software is a plus.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Design or related field preferred.
