Project Lead Engineer - Primary (GIS)

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY is looking for a Project Lead Engineer (Primary) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The engineer leads engineering activities for customer projects, providing technical support for tendering and execution, preparing primary drawings and bills of quantities for gas-insulated switchgear, and acting as technical lead for substations. The role is full-time and on-site.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare designs, project controls, specifications, schedules, cost estimates and forecasts, and select materials, equipment, staff and external contractors.
• Manage projects and processes independently with limited supervision, and coach and review the work of lower-level professionals.
• Provide technical support for tendering and execution of customer projects, and prepare primary drawings and bills of quantities for engineered items of gas-insulated switchgear.
• Act as technical lead for substations and manage all engineering activities of the project.
• Check supplier offers and coordinate with supply chain management for procurement of materials, equipment and services.
• Lead and attend discussions with customers, handle site queries and take necessary actions.
• Help apprentices, entry-level engineers, technicians and support teams with design questions, and review deliverables before submission to the client.
• Review and prepare technical documents for procurement of current transformers and voltage transformers, and participate in customer and project review meetings.
• Reduce the lead time and cost of the offered GIS solution, adhere to the project plan for on-time delivery, and prioritize quality.
• Interface with civil, steel and application engineers from Hitachi Energy and EPC companies, and ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical engineering or a related field.
• 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) roles.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic.
