Refrigeration Technician

About the role

The Refrigeration Technician will perform skilled mechanical maintenance, inspection, repair and installation of refrigeration and HVAC systems in an industrial setting. The role includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, modify and install HVAC and refrigeration equipment such as compressors, condensers, chillers, cooling towers and related components.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on refrigeration units, boilers, evaporative coolers and air‑conditioning systems, adjusting or repairing as needed.
• Diagnose and replace defective parts including thermostats, valves, relays, filters, belts, compressors and safety devices.
• Rebuild semi‑hermetic reciprocating compressors and centrifugal refrigeration compressors.
• Perform electrical maintenance, wiring and motor control tasks, connecting motors to control panels.
• Install and calibrate copper tubing, pipe joints and insulation for refrigeration and air‑conditioning circuits.
• Operate hand and power tools, welding torches, vacuum pumps and test equipment while maintaining tool inventory.
• Record labor, material usage and generate reports through the ERP system, and assist with commissioning new equipment.

Required profile

• Diploma or technical certification in HVAC, refrigeration or a related field.
• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in refrigeration and air‑conditioning maintenance, preferably in food or FMCG manufacturing.

• HVAC and refrigeration system maintenance and repair.
• Compressor rebuilding (semi‑hermetic and centrifugal types).
• Electrical wiring, motor control and panel integration.
• Copper tubing installation, pipe joint testing and insulation.
• Use of hand and power tools, welding torch and vacuum pump.
