Refund Lead Auditor

About the role

We are seeking a Refund Lead Auditor to oversee the assessment and approval of tax refund requests across various industries. The role involves ensuring compliance with ZATCA regulations, developing audit tools, and guiding audit teams through complex refund cases.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update refund policies, limits, risk controls, and margins to ensure alignment with ZATCA rules.
• Develop and maintain assessment templates and audit tools that support timely evaluation of refund requests.
• Monitor industry developments (business, insurance, telecom, consumer goods) to incorporate new tax practices into assessments.
• Maintain refund manuals, eligibility criteria, and legal requirements, integrating them into computer‑aided audit systems.
• Consolidate, categorize, and prioritize refund requests, routing them to appropriate audit teams.
• Validate legal documents and supporting evidence submitted by taxpayers before case assessment.
• Gather data for desk‑audit activities and coordinate with account managers, banks, audit bureaus, and government entities.
• Research taxpayer business structures, financial statements, and revenue streams to benchmark against industry standards.
• Identify high‑risk or non‑compliant issues in taxpayer declarations and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
• Compile legal and financial observations, evaluate against eligibility criteria, and recommend approval or rejection decisions.
• Oversee the preparation and delivery of comprehensive audit reports.

Required profile

• Experienced professional capable of working with general directions and providing solutions to complex audit challenges.
• Strong analytical abilities to assess financial data, industry benchmarks, and tax regulations.
• In‑depth knowledge of tax refund processes, ZATCA regulations, and audit methodologies.
• Ability to manage and coordinate audit teams across multiple industries.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with taxpayers, banks, and governmental bodies.
