Registrar - Nephrology

About the role

The Registrar – Nephrology provides comprehensive kidney care exclusively via virtual platforms. Working under consultant supervision, you will assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic kidney conditions through telehealth, ensuring safe, evidence‑based and patient‑centred treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct video and telephone consultations for patients with CKD, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, proteinuria, haematuria, nephrolithiasis and post‑AKI follow‑up.
• Review laboratory results and imaging remotely, adjust management plans and flag urgent cases for in‑person assessment.
• Develop individualized treatment and monitoring plans in collaboration with nephrology consultants.
• Document all encounters accurately in the electronic medical record and arrange virtual follow‑ups.
• Monitor disease progression using lab trends and patient‑reported outcomes, providing lifestyle, diet and medication counselling.
• Collaborate with dietitians, allied health professionals and primary care providers via telehealth.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, virtual audits and compliance with telemedicine regulations.

Required profile

• Qualified physician enrolled in nephrology specialty training (Registrar level).
• Ability to work independently while maintaining close consultant supervision.
• Strong clinical judgment to identify red‑flag symptoms requiring urgent referral.
• Excellent communication skills for virtual patient interaction.

Required skills

• Proficiency with telemedicine platforms for video consultations and secure messaging.
• Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Knowledge of renal pharmacology and dose adjustment in renal impairment.
