Rig Electrician

About the role

Eram Talent is looking for an experienced Rig Electrician to oversee the electrical systems on drilling rigs, ensuring the safety and efficiency of all electrical operations. The role involves regular inspections, maintenance and troubleshooting to minimise downtime, in a fast-paced onshore and offshore environment that prioritises safety and compliance with industry regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment on drilling rigs.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs.
• Inspect and maintain electrical panels, generators and related equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes.
• Work closely with the rig crew to keep electrical operations running.
• Document work done and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Help train and mentor junior electricians and other crew members on electrical safety.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent acceptable to Saudi Aramco, or an associate's degree from a technical college acceptable to Saudi Aramco.
• At least two years of experience in the electrical field, including two years in the oil and gas drilling industry.
• Knowledge of drilling operations so that recommendations and decisions minimise interruptions to rig operations.
• Good leadership skills and the ability to train rig electricians and trainees on the job.
• English skills sufficient for verbal communication, reports, forms and conversations with supervisors and management.

Required skills

• At least two manufacturers' training courses, for example Ross Hill, IPS, Baylor SCR systems, PLC, Caterpillar engine controls, Martin/Decker instrumentation, or air conditioning and refrigeration.
• Working knowledge of electrical test equipment used on drilling rigs (VOM, digital multimeters, oscilloscope, muggers, phase rotation detectors).
• Familiarity with API, ABS, IEEE and SOLAS standards.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
