Secondary Engineer – Substation Design

About the role

The Secondary Engineer will support the design of substation projects, focusing on protection and automation systems. Reporting to the Design Lead (Secondary), the role involves reviewing vendor drawings, preparing calculations, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Complete all design deliverables on schedule, including secondary engineering drawings and calculations.
• Review and validate Control Relay Panel (CRP) and automation drawings supplied by vendors.
• Coordinate with site execution teams and cluster engineers to clarify design intent.
• Engage with vendors to resolve technical queries and verify compliance with specifications.
• Assist the primary design engineer and gather client specifications for evaluation.
• Evaluate technical offers against client requirements and submit reviews to the Design Lead.
• Prepare CT/VT design calculations, battery sizing, and DC/AC single‑line diagrams for substations.
• Review Bill of Materials and compare with tender quantities during pre‑tender engineering.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 month of relevant engineering experience, preferably in substation protection and automation.
• Strong understanding of protection and control scheme drawings, SCADA interfaces, and burden calculations for CT and VT.
• Familiarity with national and international codes and standards applicable to power substations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with vendors, site teams, and internal stakeholders.
