Senior Backend Engineer - Checkout

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design, development, and operation of high‑availability services that power checkout, payments, promotions, loyalty and pricing experiences for millions of transactions. The role focuses on building reliable, scalable distributed systems within a fast‑moving fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain scalable backend services for fintech, checkout, promotions, loyalty and payment workflows.
• Develop clean, high‑performance production code with a focus on readability and long‑term ownership.
• Define and evolve RESTful APIs and integrate with internal platforms, payment gateways and third‑party services.
• Build resilient distributed systems that handle high traffic, failures and asynchronous workloads.
• Drive architectural decisions emphasizing scalability, resilience, maintainability and operational excellence.
• Optimize performance across services, databases, caches, queues and background workers.
• Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, RFCs and engineering planning.
• Ensure production readiness through monitoring, logging, alerting, testing and observability.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests and conduct rigorous code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best engineering practices.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional experience building production backend systems.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems (consistency, availability, fault tolerance, idempotency, asynchronous processing, messaging, caching).
• Proven ability to deliver clean, maintainable and high‑performance code.

Required skills

• PHP (Laravel preferred) or Go or Java or C#.
• RESTful API design and integration.
• Experience with databases, caching layers, message queues and background workers.
• Unit and integration testing.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools (optional).
