Senior Backend Engineer - Checkout

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Fintech team, focusing on checkout, promotions, loyalty and payment services. You will design, build and scale highly available backend systems that support millions of transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate scalable backend services for Fintech, checkout, promotions, loyalty and payment flows.
• Write clean, maintainable, high‑performance production code with long‑term ownership in mind.
• Define and evolve RESTful APIs and integrate with internal platforms, payment gateways and third‑party services.
• Build reliable distributed systems that handle high traffic, failures and asynchronous workloads.
• Drive architectural decisions emphasizing scalability, resilience, maintainability and operational excellence.
• Optimize performance across services, databases, caching layers, queues and background workers.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, RFCs and engineering planning.
• Ensure production readiness through monitoring, logging, alerting, testing and observability best practices.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests and uphold high engineering standards via code reviews.
• Leverage AI‑assisted engineering tools to accelerate development, debugging, testing and documentation.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers and contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend systems.
• Strong experience building scalable backend services in at least one modern language such as PHP, Go, Java or C#.
• Experience with PHP and Laravel is preferred but not mandatory.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems fundamentals (consistency, availability, concurrency, fault tolerance, idempotency, asynchronous processing, messaging and caching).
• Proven ability to design and operate high‑scale, highly available backend systems.
• Demonstrated skill in writing clean, maintainable, efficient and high‑performance code.
