Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer (Google Cloud)

About the role

Penta Consulting is looking for a certified Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to design, deploy, and operate production workloads on Google Cloud Platform across EMEA. The role combines deep GCP expertise with FinOps leadership to drive cost‑efficient, secure, and highly available cloud solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and operate scalable, secure, multi‑region GCP infrastructure for production workloads.
• Lead GCP cloud strategy including resource hierarchy, VPC design, Shared VPC, IAM governance, and service‑account lifecycle.
• Deploy and manage GKE (Autopilot & Standard), Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Compute Engine workloads.
• Own FinOps practice: implement cost governance, budget alerts, right‑sizing recommendations, and CUD/SUD purchasing.
• Build and maintain Terraform modules covering networking, compute, data services, and security controls.
• Design multi‑region and multi‑zone architectures for disaster recovery, latency optimization, and data‑residency compliance.
• Produce monthly cloud cost reports, trend analyses, and present optimization roadmaps to engineering leadership and finance.
• Implement GCP security controls such as VPC Service Controls, Cloud Armor WAF, Security Command Center, CMEK, and Binary Authorization.
• Define and enforce resource labeling/tagging standards for accurate cost attribution, chargeback, and showback reporting.
• Mentor engineers on GCP best practices and contribute to cloud governance documentation and internal tooling.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience architecting, deploying, and operating production workloads on GCP.
• Certified GCP professional (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect) with a strong FinOps background.
• Demonstrated ability to implement cost‑governance frameworks and achieve measurable cloud cost reductions.
• Experience leading cloud strategy, security, and governance initiatives in a multi‑regional environment.

• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform.
• FinOps and cloud cost management: budgeting, cost reporting, CUD/SUD purchasing, right‑sizing.
• Network design: VPC, Shared VPC, multi‑region/zone architecture.
• IAM governance, service‑account lifecycle, resource labeling/tagging.
• Disaster recovery and data‑residency compliance design.
