Senior Director - Urban Design

About the role

Qiddiya Investment Company is seeking a Senior Director of Urban Design to lead planning and design strategy across its large‑scale entertainment, sports and cultural destinations. The role combines strategic vision with hands‑on oversight, ensuring design excellence, consistency and commercial viability throughout the portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Support senior technical development of planning and design strategy aligned with QIC’s objectives.
• Develop and enforce design policies, processes, procedures and controls.
• Assist in budgeting for Place, Planning and Design functions.
• Lead creation and implementation of design guidelines across all projects.
• Provide design direction, review and specification support to development teams.
• Coordinate design processes among multiple consultants from concept to execution, ensuring alignment with the master plan.
• Organise, track and monitor design packages to deliver consistent solutions.
• Ensure commercial viability and regulatory compliance of design solutions.
• Manage design processes from land acquisition through detailed design approvals.
• Align all projects with the approved master plan and take corrective actions when needed.
• Drive team performance, set objectives, and develop capability.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to strengthen the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, urban design or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in urban design, planning or large‑scale development.
• Experience with master‑planned communities, mixed‑use or destination developments.
• Proven track record leading external design consultants.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Revit.
