Senior Electrical Technician

About the role

Afifi Electrical is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Technician to join its electrical contracting division. The role involves installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in buildings during construction and after completion.

Key responsibilities

• Install and modify electrical systems, including conduits, cable trays, wiring, distribution boards, lighting, sockets, and associated equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, layouts, and project specifications.
• Carry out electrical work on new construction projects, building renovations, and occupied properties.
• Diagnose and repair faults in wiring, circuits, panels, and electrical equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building electrical systems.
• Conduct electrical inspections, testing, commissioning, and document results.
• Lead small teams of technicians and helpers, allocate daily tasks, and verify completed work.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to keep site activities on schedule.
• Identify material and equipment requirements and report shortages promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, faults identified, repairs, and outstanding issues.

Required profile

• Diploma, technical certificate, or vocational qualification in electrical installation, maintenance, or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant experience in building electrical installation, preferably with an electrical contractor.
• Experience supervising or guiding technicians and helpers.
• Strong practical knowledge of building electrical systems, fault finding, and testing.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and use electrical test instruments correctly.
• Familiarity with applicable local electrical codes, project standards, and site safety requirements.
• Relevant electrical licence or certification, where required.
• Valid driving licence is preferred.
