Senior Fiber Optics Technician

About the role

The Senior Fiber Optics Technician is responsible for splicing, termination, and testing of fiber optic cables across Alfanar projects throughout the Kingdom. The role includes supervising site teams, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering high‑quality fiber installations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform splicing of SM and MM fiber optic cables for indoor, outdoor, underground, and OPGW applications.
• Prepare and arrange fiber cables according to standards prior to splicing.
• Terminate fibers using various connectors (FC, ST, LC, SC) with hot‑melt or epoxy‑polish methods.
• Troubleshoot spliced fibers to locate and clear faults.
• Conduct local testing with OTDR and power meters to verify cable integrity before final acceptance.
• Enforce safety procedures for all fiber‑optic activities.
• Supervise site teams in cable pulling and arrangement, ensuring compliance with standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4–6 years of hands‑on experience in fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing.
• Ability to communicate effectively, follow work instructions, and adhere to quality and safety standards.

Required skills

• Fiber optic splicing (SM/MM) and termination techniques.
• OTDR and power‑meter testing of fiber links.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools for cable preparation.
• Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting of fiber optic installations.
