Senior Financial Accountant - Revenue Accounting

About the role

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely recognition, recording and reporting of revenue in line with IFRS 15 and internal policies. As owner of the revenue close cycle, the role works with Sales, Operations and Commercial teams so that contract terms are correctly reflected in the financial statements, maintains controls over billing and receivables and provides insight into revenue performance through variance analysis and management reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Apply IFRS 15 to customer contracts, including identifying performance obligations, allocating the transaction price and determining the timing of recognition.
• Review new and amended contracts for revenue accounting implications such as variable consideration, discounts, rebates and multiple-element arrangements.
• Prepare and post monthly revenue journals, accruals, deferrals and unbilled revenue adjustments, and maintain deferred revenue and contract balance roll-forwards.
• Own the revenue and receivables close at month-end, quarter-end and year-end, including balance sheet reconciliations for all revenue-related accounts.
• Perform revenue variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior periods, and contribute to management reporting and statutory disclosures.
• Oversee billing accuracy, monitor AR ageing and expected credit loss provisions, and run internal controls over the order-to-cash cycle.
• Act as primary contact for auditors on revenue matters, support system and process improvements and coach junior accountants.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CMA or CA) completed or in progress.
• 4-6 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in revenue accounting; Big 4 audit experience is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience applying IFRS 15 and IFRS 9 in a complex, multi-product or multi-entity environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of ERP and billing systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
• High attention to detail and a strong control mindset.
• Ability to manage tight deadlines during financial close cycles.
• Effective communication skills for explaining complex accounting matters to non-finance stakeholders.
