Senior Horticulturist

About the role

Eram Talent is seeking a highly qualified Senior Horticulturist to lead horticultural practices and provide expertise in the cultivation of various plant species. The role contributes to designing and implementing effective growing strategies that improve production quality and sustainability, working closely with colleagues so that horticultural activities meet the organisation's standards of excellence and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Direct research and experiments to identify land-use problems, suitable plant varieties, nursery techniques and best methods for planting, spraying, cultivating, harvesting, storing, processing or transporting agricultural and horticultural products, as well as pest and weed management.
• Advise on planning and developing community projects, including landscaping programmes that deliver quality designs, effective implementation and cost reduction.
• Guide training programmes for staff in the latest agricultural and horticultural technologies and methodologies, including plant insect and pest control.
• Analyse soil characteristics and develop improved measurement techniques, soil conservation methods, soil sampling devices or other relevant technologies.
• Design work programmes for gardening, landscaping and nursery staff, review and advise on staff performance and prepare periodic reports for supervisory evaluation.
• Coordinate and implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programmes to control pests in landscaped areas, including residences.
• Provide advice and instruction on plant pest control, including surveys, sample collection and study of plant pests and materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or an equivalent programme from a recognised and approved institution.
• 10 years of experience in gardening, landscaping, agriculture or equivalent, including at least 8 years in horticulture, gardening, plantations or equivalent.
