Senior Legal Counsel - Contracting

About the role

Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial, construction, procurement, infrastructure, transportation, consultancy, and service contracts while providing strategic legal advice to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of complex contracts.
• Provide strategic and practical legal advice on contractual obligations, commercial risks, claims and major project matters.
• Support projects throughout the contracting lifecycle from procurement to close‑out.
• Identify and mitigate contractual risks, including variations, performance issues and potential disputes.
• Ensure contracts comply with Saudi laws, internal policies and governance requirements.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Development, Finance and other functions to deliver timely legal support.
• Manage external counsel to ensure quality, cost‑effectiveness and timely delivery.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, legal guidance and best‑practice processes.
• Lead, mentor and develop members of the Legal Contracting team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law (master’s preferred).
• Significant experience in a leading law firm, large organization, government‑related entity or major development environment.
• Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial, construction, procurement and infrastructure contracts.
• Proven ability to advise senior stakeholders on contractual risk, commercial negotiations and strategic legal matters.
• Deep knowledge of contracting principles, procurement practices, corporate governance and applicable Saudi legal and regulatory requirements.
