Senior Mechanical Engineer – Energy Efficiency & Building Retrofit

About the role

Astek Middle East is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the execution, operation and maintenance of energy‑efficiency, building‑retrofit and sustainability projects across Saudi Arabia. The role combines technical mechanical expertise with project coordination to deliver reliable, compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering expertise for energy‑efficiency, retrofit, HVAC and facility‑upgrade projects.
• Review and validate mechanical designs, drawings, specifications and calculations.
• Conduct site inspections and technical assessments to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
• Support HVAC upgrades and energy‑optimization initiatives to reduce consumption.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, consultants and other engineering disciplines.
• Monitor mechanical works for compliance with designs, quality standards and schedules.
• Prepare technical reports, progress updates and project documentation.
• Support testing, commissioning and hand‑over activities for mechanical installations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience (candidates with 10 + years are also welcome).
• Professional experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC preferred.
• Valid Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) registration and engineering profession reflected on the Iqama.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Demonstrated project coordination or management experience.

Required skills

• AutoCAD and Revit MEP proficiency.
• HVAC system design, load calculations, equipment selection and mechanical system sizing.
• Energy‑modeling tools such as HAP, EnergyPlus or eQUEST.
• Knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and ASHRAE standards.
• Plumbing and fire‑protection system knowledge.
• Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project.
• Testing, commissioning and performance assessment of mechanical systems.
