Structural Engineer – Reinforcement Shop Drawing Reviewer

About the role

ARX is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join its Madinah project team. The role focuses on reviewing structural and reinforcement shop drawings for major transport infrastructure and reinforced‑concrete works, ensuring compliance with design, specifications, and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review structural general arrangement, concrete outline, and reinforcement shop drawings against IFC drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Check bar bending schedules for bar marks, diameters, spacing, quantities, shapes, and bending details.
• Verify reinforcement detailing such as concrete cover, laps, anchorage, development lengths, couplers, links, and confinement reinforcement.
• Identify reinforcement congestion, dimensional discrepancies, missing information, and construction sequencing issues, coordinating resolutions with contractors and designers.
• Coordinate structural interfaces with architectural, road, drainage, utilities, MEP, and other discipline drawings.
• Raise technical queries, review contractor RFIs, and refer design changes for approval.
• Prepare clear review comments, track comment closure, and maintain drawing review registers and revision records.
• Review as‑built submissions against approved drawings, RFIs, site changes, and accepted revisions.

Required profile

• 8–12 years of structural engineering experience, with hands‑on shop‑drawing review.
• Experience on bridges, transport infrastructure, viaducts, underpasses, stations, or comparable reinforced‑concrete projects.
• Strong understanding of reinforcement detailing, bar bending schedules, and constructability.
• Familiarity with the Saudi Building Code and relevant ACI, AASHTO, Eurocodes, or British Standards.
