Technician – Communications

About the role

The Communications Technician will plan and coordinate IT‑related equipment installations, moves, additions and system enhancements at a Marriott hotel in Medina. This part‑time, fixed‑term position supports both hardware and software systems to ensure reliable guest and staff connectivity.

Key responsibilities

• Install, move, add, and modify IT equipment and telephone switchboard (PBX) systems.
• Enter commands, activate controls on computers and peripheral devices, and troubleshoot non‑routine hardware, software, and guest‑room internet issues.
• Maintain an inventory of technology devices and ensure computer and telephone rooms are secured.
• Analyze processes, recommend improvements, and implement enhancements to increase reliability and performance.
• Follow company safety policies, report incidents, and maintain professional appearance and confidentiality.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of related work experience in IT or communications support.
• No high‑school diploma or GED required; no supervisory experience needed.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 10 lb without assistance.
• Commitment to follow Marriott policies, safety training, and guest service standards.

Required skills

• PBX/telephone switchboard system maintenance.
• Hardware troubleshooting and repair.
• Software troubleshooting and basic command‑line operations.
• Inventory management of technology devices.
