Telecommunication Equipment Subject Matter Expert

About the role

SGS is seeking a seasoned Subject Matter Expert to lead quality inspection and assurance for telecommunication equipment used in power generation and transmission & distribution networks up to 380 kV. The role involves developing and maintaining quality documentation throughout the asset lifecycle and providing technical inspection expertise on a wide range of telecom systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and review quality inspection procedures, checklists, method statements and work instructions for telecom equipment from design through de‑commissioning.
• Perform QA/QC inspections, audits, compliance evaluations and gap analyses on FO/OPGW, pilot cables, SDH/PDH, MPLS, microwave, tele‑protection, SCADA/SAS interfaces and RTUs.
• Review telecom equipment drawings, specifications and OEM manuals; prepare and maintain inspection reports and quality records.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis, manage Non‑Conformance Reports and support type testing, FAT, SAT and commissioning activities.
• Provide diagnostic assessments, condition monitoring and support preventive and corrective maintenance for equipment up to 380 kV.
• Ensure compliance with Saudi Standards, international standards (ISO 9001, ISO 55001) and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering or a related engineering discipline; Saudi Council of Engineers membership preferred.
• 15‑20 years of experience, including at least 5 years in the Middle East, performing quality inspection in power generation and transmission & distribution environments.
• Proven experience developing and managing quality documentation across all asset lifecycle phases.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi and GCC transmission standards, ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 55001 Asset Management.
• Professional proficiency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
