Testing & Commissioning Manager – STATCOM Specialist

About the role

The Testing & Commissioning Manager (STATCOM Specialist) will lead end‑to‑end commissioning and grid integration of STATCOM systems for dynamic voltage support and reactive power management in renewable energy plants and substations. The role ensures reliable operation, compliance with utility standards, and successful performance testing.

Key responsibilities

• Review STATCOM documentation, including power circuit diagrams, control philosophy, protection settings, cooling and auxiliary power configurations.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and control validation exercises.
• Verify installation quality of voltage source converters, cooling systems, and protection panels.
• Conduct pre‑commissioning checks covering civil, electrical, mechanical completion, and interlock safety.
• Coordinate stepwise energisation, validate operating modes (voltage, reactive power, PF control) and protection functions.
• Execute dynamic reactive response, step response, voltage recovery, and harmonic measurement tests.
• Interface with grid operators for acceptance testing and coordinate with other reactive devices.
• Prepare commissioning and performance reports, support COD and reliability runs, and train O&M personnel.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years (144 months) of experience in testing, commissioning, and grid integration of power electronics systems.
• Strong background in substation protection schemes and SCADA integration.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
