Warehouse Chemist (Saudi Arabia)

About the role

The Warehouse Chemist ensures the safe, compliant and efficient management of chemicals and dangerous goods in warehouse operations. The role covers receipt, inspection, classification, storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials, in line with local and international chemical safety regulations. It also supports audits, emergency response and continuous improvement initiatives. The workplace is on site in Jeddah.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, identify, classify and verify chemicals and dangerous goods against purchase specifications and regulations.
• Ensure safe storage, segregation, handling and transportation of chemicals according to safety standards.
• Inspect chemical storage areas regularly and recommend corrective actions for safety, environmental and compliance risks.
• Monitor inventory, shelf life and storage conditions, and keep accurate records, SDS and regulatory documents.
• Assess chemical compatibility and carry out risk assessments to minimise hazards.
• Coordinate safe disposal of expired, obsolete or hazardous chemicals.
• Train warehouse staff on chemical safety, handling, PPE and emergency response.
• Work with Procurement, HSE, Logistics and regulators to support audits, investigate incidents and improve practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science, Chemical Technology or a related science.
• At least 4 years of experience in chemical warehouse operations, hazardous materials management, laboratories or industrial chemical environments.
• Knowledge of chemical properties, hazard classification, compatibility and handling practices.
• Familiarity with GHS, IATA DGR, IMDG Code, ADR and local regulations.
• Experience with chemical risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective/preventive actions.
