Automation Engineer – Food Processing & Packaging

About the role

The Automation Engineer will design, program, and maintain control systems for food handling, storage and processing facilities. The role ensures efficient, safe and reliable operation of conveyors, packaging and labeling equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement automation and control solutions using Siemens TIA Portal, including PLC logic, HMI configuration and Profinet integration.
• Create electrical control panel schematics, select components, assemble, wire and commission panels to professional standards.
• Develop HMI and SCADA interfaces for process monitoring and integrate sensors, VFDs and field instruments.
• Prepare full project documentation, FAT and SAT procedures, and operating manuals.
• Troubleshoot automation and electrical faults, maintain PLC programs and provide technical support to operators and maintenance teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, apply LOTO procedures and participate in risk assessments.
• Analyze production data to drive efficiency, energy optimisation and support predictive maintenance initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or related field.
• 2–5 years of hands‑on experience in industrial automation, preferably in food processing or packaging.
• Proven ability to write Siemens TIA Portal PLC programs from scratch and commission them on‑line.
• Experience designing, assembling and testing electrical control panels.
