Automation Engineer – Reliability Maintenance Engineering

About the role

Join Amazon’s Reliability Maintenance Engineering team to maintain and optimise automated material‑handling equipment across the global warehouse and delivery network. As an Automation Engineer you will fault‑find, troubleshoot and improve control solutions for conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, HMI systems and related control cabinets.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the site‑level Subject Matter Expert for all control systems and sensors.
• Monitor, fault‑find and repair equipment to maximise availability for internal customers.
• Train engineering technicians on basic control‑system troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Enhance AMET Controls network capabilities to visualise material‑handling equipment metrics.
• Lead or participate in continuous‑improvement projects within the AMET Controls network.
• Collaborate with IT, Controls Engineering and Operations Engineering to maintain accurate documentation and backup libraries.
• Support global teams in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Perform PLC code and SCADA changes following change‑management procedures.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for unplanned stoppages and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Work with OEM technical support for remote assistance when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience programming PLCs.
• At least 4 years of experience integrating PLCs with SCADA systems.
• Experience troubleshooting, installing and repairing automated material‑handling equipment.
• Customer‑focused and motivated to improve equipment reliability.
