Backend Engineer (Python) – AI Automation Specialist

About the role

Almosafer, a Saudi Arabian travel and tourism company, is looking for a Specialist - Python & AI Automation Engineer to join its engineering team. The role focuses on developing scalable Python-based services, automation solutions and integrations, and supporting the evolution of the company's in-house automation platform. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with AI/LLM technologies and an interest in building intelligent automation and AI-powered agents.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable Python-based applications, APIs and automation services.
• Build and maintain automation workflows that support business and operational processes.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of the in-house automation platform.
• Develop and integrate AI/LLM capabilities and intelligent agents into business workflows, including LLM APIs, prompt engineering, function/tool calling and structured outputs.
• Design and maintain integrations with databases, APIs, message brokers and enterprise systems.
• Ensure automation solutions are reliable, scalable, secure and production-ready, and monitor, troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Evaluate emerging AI and automation technologies and identify opportunities for business improvement.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on Python development.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject; experience in Agile/SCRUM teams is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, debugging and software engineering skills.

Required skills

• Strong Python, with production-grade application development; FastAPI, Flask, Django or similar frameworks.
• REST APIs, microservices and system integrations.
• PostgreSQL, MongoDB or similar databases.
• Generative AI/LLMs, prompt engineering, function/tool calling and AI agents.
• Plus: modernising RPA workflows with Python, APIs or AI, and RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
